Hi, I'm Polly.
As an experienced California-based therapist, I have come to see the many advantages that online or telephone therapy can bring to a counseling situation. Over the last three years, my clients and I have discovered that online therapy can not only work, but, for some of us, these formats may be the best fit.
Here's my background:
I received a BA in Sociology from San Francisco State Univ. I worked briefly in the corporate world before returning to school where I received a Masters in Psychology from Antioch Univ. West in 1982.
My internship was completed at a group counseling center before receiving my first job in the field in Southern California as a family therapist at the Betty Ford Center. I then worked with Glendale Adventist Hospital's rehab program, where I managed both family therapy and intern supervision.
I have spent time in private practice, dealing with "everyday problems," and I counseled for five years at a battered women's shelter in Palm Springs. For eleven years, I managed therapy for male juvenile offenders. Our situations are all different, but there really are common problems that we're all trying to work through.
I realize it can be scary to begin counseling. Please know that I am totally supportive, and ready to talk to you about any issues. Any. I understand how difficult and painful it can be to talk through trauma, illness, and addiction and am here to listen with an open mind and help you reach a better place.
