Hi, I'm Polly Watson.
As an experienced therapist, over the last three years I have come to see many of the advantages that online or telephone therapy can bring to a counseling situation. As we have become more familiar with our electronic devices, my clients and I are discovering that online therapy can not only work, but that for some of us, these formats may be the best fit.
Here's my background:
BA in Sociology from San Francisco State Univ., followed by a stint in the corporate world, followed by a return to school, receiving a Masters in Psychology from Antioch Univ. West in 1982.
My internship came at a group counseling center, then to Southern California for my first job in my field, as a family therapist at the Betty Ford Center.
I then worked with Glendale Adventist Hospital's rehab program, where I managed both family therapy and intern supervision.
I have spent time in private practice, dealing with "everyday problems," and I counseled for five years at a battered women's shelter in Palm Springs. For eleven years I managed therapy for male juvenile offenders. Our situations are all different, but there really are common problems we're all trying to work through.
I realize it can be scary to begin counseling. Please know that I am totally supportive, and ready to talk to you about any issues. Any. And I know things can be painful and hard to talk about, and I am totally non-judgmental.
I listen to you with an open mind, and I hear what you are saying.
And I'm here to help you get to a better place.
